Hi there and welcome to my blog for things on the pop-culture side of things! What started out as a game review blog slowly evolved into a translation blog, which essentially is all I do now. This is a place for my pet projects and announcements about official translations I’ve worked on (of the few that I am allowed to share).
You can find me on Twitter on my fandom account when I’m active. My old handle is now my work account. I do have a tendency to just disappear because of deadlines, but feel free to strike up a conversation!

Who: Doropyan (Emong)
A Japanese-English translator & interpreter doing the occasional fan-translation in my spare time. I work in Information Security (yay for IT) so it’s a nice break from technical documents. Head over to my Portfolio for a list of titles I’ve worked on.
What: A Translating Fangirl
The sure way to get me into something is to tell me how good the voice acting is. I’m a sucker for attractive voices and have recently deviated from the Japanese seiyuu industry to the Chinese voice acting industry. It’s bad. I’m deep in this swamp.
I used to live-tweet as I go through whatever I’m reading, watching or playing but it got distracting after a while. These days I tend to binge-read/game/watch/listen to works then just dump it all in a thread with a tag after the chapter or arc.
I bake and make frozen desserts to destress, and I hoard tea. I. LOVE. MY. TEA. Don’t get me wrong, I love my coffee too but I feel so bloated after and disrupts my sleeping pattern badly. I have a slight obsession with getting to know all the types of whiskeys/whiskies out there especially Bourbon (read: Detective Conan) despite the fact I can’t drink.
Other than watching anime, reading novels/manga/light-novels/web-novels, listening to dramaCDs, I generally only play otome games and mystery games like Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright. I am horrible at RPG games but I will play every Kiseki series game there is out there. And maybe Fire Emblem if the characters interest me.
I love games and stories which have a complicated plot and a heroine with common sense. A bit of a backbone is a bonus. I’m a sap so I will cry at the smallest things and they usually end up leaving a deep impression on me. Not screaming about my favourite characters all the time doesn’t mean I don’t like them anymore. They’re just now an integrated part of my life, so if you poke me with something I’ll start gushing.
All posts published here will be biased in one way or another, though I try to stay neutral. They are my thoughts. Feel free to comment!

I think I stopped right before the final boss because I didn’t level-grind enough to K.O. him. My friend completed the game 100%. She got all the badges and items. It’s scary… I love the characters and music! Can’t wait until they appear in KH3D!
Ahhh~! Sangoku Rensenki is one of my favorites too~! I love historical otoges, like Miyako and Sangoku Rensenki o< (read: am stalking you) but I hope to get to know you well! But looking at your likes and my likes… I think we'll get along well 😛

Hi–I’m pretty new to this whole drama cd thing, but am really interested in Seventh Heaven (your translations are fabulous) as well as a couple of other Rejet series. Having some trouble ordering them from here in the US. My understanding of written Japanese (it’s poor) won’t let me order directly from the Rejet website and avoid all the “special fees” and high shipping charges that the few places I know of tack on. May I ask how do you do your ordering?
Also, do you know of anyone who does combined orders for anyone here? I’m getting desperate! Thanks!
I think you’ll find this guide that Hinano posted pretty helpful. She lives in the US as well so hopefully it gives you a better estimation of fees.

Broke down and ordered Seventh Heaven Vol 3 [Itsuki’s cd] from Amazon.jp. Cost a few small appendages in shipping, but it came in two days, safe and sound in my hot little hands (きゃあああ!). Can’t wait for your translation (assuming you’ll eventually do one!!). My Japanese comprehension is steadily improving , but I’m still mostly at sea without something general to follow.

Hajimemashite. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu. I am a Pakistani girl, and I was wondering if you could answer some basic Japanese language questions for me. Kanji o yomemasen.
1) I’ve seen (de) used a lot with hitori and jibun. Can you explain what this means?
2) What is the difference between (you) used alone and (youni)?
3) Sometimes a noun is added to (ni naru) and it becomes a verb-ex. Sonna kota ga riyuu ni naru ka?/That’s a reason (Steins;Gate ep. 16). How does this construction work?
4) I went to Japanese Grammar page on wikipedia. In the stems section, they talked about the irrealis form. Setsumei shite kudasai.
5) Could you please give me a complete list of the various ways the (te-form) can be used?
6) Verbal adverbs were also described in this article (Japanese grammar)Ex. miru= mi ni.

Thank you for taking the time to write out your question. Unfortunately, this blog is a blog dedicated to fandom related things and I do not teach, nor am I qualified to teach Japanese.
I think it would be useful for you to join an online Japanese Language Learning forum where there are other people seeking answers to questions about particles and other language queries. Some of the particles you asked about, I learnt from trial and error in the language, exceptions to rules picked up over the years. Some are set phrases. I wish you all the best with your studies.

Oh yes haha. This arc is going to kill me because it’s Kise’s arc and well…if you read the manga you know what happens haha…
Gekkan Shoujo was greag. I loved how they animated it and it didn’t feel like a 4koma manga like Kokkuri-san did. Gekkam needs another season.
